Get Involved

"Perceive Me" isn't a project with an end date. It's an ongoing infrastructure for collective body liberation.

What started as personal healing work has become something bigger - a movement where vulnerability creates actual change. When someone stands on that model platform and gets drawn by strangers who see them with tenderness instead of judgment, something shifts. Not just for them. For everyone in the room.

I thought I was done in 2023. Kidney cancer. Eating disorder struggles. Weight gain. The logistics alone were crushing me. But one invitation from The Other Art Fair in 2024 brought it all back - and made me realize this work needs to continue as long as bodies are policed, judged, and told to shrink.

My body keeps changing in ways I don't like. I need "Perceive Me" more than ever. And I'm not alone in that.

This is work that challenges the beauty industrial complex by creating spaces where people are perceived with care. Where taking up space becomes an act of resistance. Where the narrative shifts from "fix yourself" to "the spaces are built too small."

Ways to Get Involved

1. Become a Perceive Me Collaborator

Work with me to create a representational figurative artwork of my plus-sized body. You don't have to live in LA - I can send photos.

What happens:

  • We connect via email, Zoom, or in person to discuss your approach

  • You create the work and send it framed, ready to hang

  • Your original artwork becomes part of the permanent Perceive Me archive

  • The collection is heading toward museum or institutional placement

  • Your piece travels in exhibitions and gets included in the catalog

  • We create prints where you receive a percentage of sales

  • You become part of the Perceive Me community

2. Join the Drawing Cohort

Be part of the social practice component - the public nude portrait sessions at art fairs and exhibitions where community members pose for cohorts of artists.

What this looks like:

  • No charge to participate

  • Artists receive 50% of sales from drawings sold

  • You're creating space for people to be perceived with tenderness

  • You're part of building body liberation infrastructure

"To honor ourselves, our soul shells, the skin that houses our true selves is a gift. We wear these parts on the outside and we walk through life being judged by the way others may view them. Rather than absorbing the judgment - those of us who stepped onto that podium... opened ourselves up to love instead." ~Model from our first sessions at The Other Art Fair, April 2024
